On July 16, 1790 congress passed the Residence Act which would establish the city of Washington D.C. as our nation's capitol. George Washington would pick the exact location along the Potomac. On my most recent post-it note trip to Washington D.C. I was able to see so much of America's Capitol and here are some amazing places to visit.
There are a tremendous amount of museums and memorials throughout the city. The Smithsonian offers some incredible experiences including The Air and Space Museum, Museum of Natural History, The Museum Of American History,, and others. The memorials are amazing which include the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, The World War Two Memorial, The Korean Veterans Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial, and Arlington Cemetery. The Library of Congress will offer you some great history along with the original Jefferson Library collection. A tour of the American Capitol Building is a must as you can take in the history of the building and the beauty of the architecture. There are several different areas of Washington D.C. tbat include the Wharf and The Navy Yards which offer exceptional dining. For dining options check out Salt Line, SFlogina, and Kinfolk. If you're a fan of baseball head to Nationals Stadium for a great baseball experience. A trip over to Arlington Cemetery is place to see those that sacrifice the most for the United States. Dupont Circle offers some great restaurants and shops while nearby are plenty of great embassies including the Australian Embassy.
For hotels I stayed at the Beacon Hotel which is just between Dupont Circle and the White House. The rooms were very nice with very comfortable beds. Although it was being remodeled it still offered a great stay. It was close to Farragut North Metro Station which I was able to get to plenty of stop in the Washington D.C. area. A trip to Washington D.C. offers so much from the history, food, museums, and everything this part of the United States has to offer. #ridingwithkurt #postit #washingtondc
