One of the things about my life that I have always enjoyed is the arts. My post it note adventure to Chicago took me to one place that offered a incredible place of art. During the movie Ferris Brewers Days Off there is a moment that that they explore this part where Cameron Frye is staring at A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by George Surratt and is a changing moment in the movie.

The Chicago Art Institute is a massive art exhibit that takes you through a history of art dating back to 2500 BC. There are over 300,000 pieces of art and exhibits in this expansive building. The works range from George Surratt, Edward Hopper, Pablo Picasso, Rabiq Shaw, Claude Monet, William Holman Hunt, and many others. There are exhibits from the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, the Renaissance, and other eras. Some of the art pieces that I enjoyed included the On The Bank Of The Seine by Claude Monet, The Shadow Of Death By William Hunt, Penitent Saint Peter by Jusepe de Ribera, A Sunday On La Grande Jatte by George Surratt, and Seascape by Renoir. Sculptures I found interesting include Statue of A Ram, Portrait Emperor of Emperor Hadrian, The Sculptures of Ancient Greece, Babylon, and Italy. The area of the Knights Templar and the early outfits from around 1100 AD was one of my favorites. This area included a walk through history about the art of war from 1100 to about 1700 AD. There is a modern history and art of the America's that is also very informative.

The Chicago Art Institute is open seven days a week from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm on Friday through Wednesday. They are open on Thursday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm while on Tuesday they are closed. If you are a fan of the arts or just want to experience a great historical experience then head to the Chicago Art Institute. #ridingwithkurt #postit #chicagoartinstitute
