In 1634 French explorer Jean Nicolet reached a region in the Midwest portion of North America that offered a very large body of water on his search for a passage to Asia. Native American tribes of this region settled along this body water and utilized the area for all the resources. Today this large lake is home to cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, and Green bay.
Lake Michigan was part of my post it note journey to the city of Chicago, Il. It is the second largest lake in the United States next to Lake Superior. It is part of the five great lakes that cover much of the Midwest. The views of Lake Michigan from various areas of Chicago is absolutely amazing. A couple areas that offer great views of Lake Michigan include from The Navy Pier, Northerly Island Park, and Montrose Beach. You can see all sorts of great aviary including seagulls. There is also great tours out to the Pier that take you out to Lake Michigan to offer a history tour about The Lake and the city of Chicago. The lake offers fishing and boating for those that reside in the area and various species of fish can be found here. The best time to visit Lake Michigan is in the Summer Months of June through August. The temperatures are around the mid 70's to mid 80's. There are plenty of great hotels near the lake that offer great views of the lake as well.
Some fun facts about Lake Michigan is it spans 22,406 miles and has a maximum depth of 925 feet. It borders states Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. When visiting Chicago head to some of those stops for taking the amazing views of Lake Michigan. #ridingwithkurt #postit #lakemichigan
