Ten years ago I made my first trip to the Southwestern area of the United States. It was my first time visiting Arizona and it was one that I will never forget. Fast forward to three years ago Northern Arizona would be part of a huge road trip out west that was part of my post it note journey out west. This area would consists of some unique places and areas of Arizona that I had only dreamed of traveling to. Here are some unique stops in Northern Arizona.

The first is a stop along Highway 123 crossing into the Arizona from Utah. This stretch of highway is known as the Forrest Gump Highway where in the movie is the area he turns around to the group and tells them he's ready to return home. It is also home to Monument Valley which offers incredible views of the various buttes of the area.

From there you can travel along Highway 123 to Highway 98 that will take your to Page, Arizona. There are several various stops in the area that include Lake Powell, Navajo Bridge, and the Vermilion Cliffs that are stops on Highway 98 and 89. For hotels look at staying at Quality Inn View at Lake Powell. The hotel offers great rooms, a great breakfast buffet, and location plus the rooms are quite reasonable in price.

From Page head west along Highway 89a to a majestic sight that will top off this road trip. The Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon is only two hours west of Page and the experience here will leave a lasting impression. There are several stops throughout the park to check out including the Visitor Center, Roosevelt Point, Angels Window, Cape Royal Point, plus the there are great gift shops in the park near the visitor center.

This is an incredible toad trip throughout Northern Arizona. I found early June as a great month to visit the area. Make sure that you purchase your National Park Pass for the various National Parks in the area. Add a stop to Northern Arizona for your next road trip out west. #ridingwithkurt #postit
