Portillo's Chicago, Il!!!

The beef industry has always been a big part of the city of Chicago, IL. It is part of the culture of the area as the Union Stockyard opened up in 1865. Large industrial slaughterhouses arose with the beef industry which led to the Chicago Beef Hotdog and Italian Beef Sandwiches. One place that I received several post it note trips is famous for both.

Portillo's has multiple locations throughout the city of Chicago with a extensive menu of both Chicago Dogs, Italian Beef Sandwiches, Burgers, Salads, Sandwiches, and sides. I had their Italian Beef Sandwich which is beef that has been slowly roasted then sliced very thin and kept in a spiced gravy. The beef is piled on a loaf of French bread and then gravy is poured over it and topped with a choice of sweet or spicy peppers where I went with the sweet. The entire sandwich was absolutely delicious with tremendous amounts of flavor inside the beef and with the gravy. There are three choices when it comes to the gravy on your sandwich which includes dry, standard, or dipped. I had the standard and the gravy is very flavorful.

The ambiance at the 100 W Ontario Street was very casual with excellent service. They are open seven days a week from 10:00 am until 1:00 am. This is one place to add when looking for a excellent Italian Beef Sandwich in the Windy City. #ridingwithkurt #postit #portillos
