New York City: Reflections of 9/11!!!
In May of this year I was on a post it note journey that included Washington D.C., Annapolis, MD, Providence, RI, Warren, RI, Newport, RI, and Boston, MA. Part of this experience was my first train ride on Amtrak that provided a very memorable time. It took my through several cities that I look forward to want to explore but one offered me a reflection for what occurred there 25 years ago today.
New York City is one place that I eventually look forward to traveling there by post it note. There are so many great areas of this city to explore but there is one area in lower Manhattan that takes you back to the events of September 11, 2001 where an attack on the twin towers cost over 2900 individuals lost their lives. Not only in New York City, but also Washington D.C., and Shanksville, PA. Today the memory of this moment can be found at all three cities with memorials. Today in New York City, NY as you see the skyline in the distance there is the One World Trade Center that commemorates those that lost their lives twenty five years ago with being the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere at 1,776 feet. There is also the 9/11 memorial near this location as well that provides a moving museum and artifacts from this event.
I will never forget this moment in United States history as I was living in Rhode Island at the time and new individuals that were personally affected by this event. I want express appreciation to those that serve our country as well as all law enforcement and the first responders.
