San Antonio, TX!!!

The old saying everything in Texas is bigger reigns true. It is one state that I have always enjoyed traveling to. Last November I was able to make a post it note journey to one great city that offers great food, plenty of history, and no shortage of things to do.

The city of San Antonio is a very historic Texas town. It is most notably known for the Alamo where it began as a mission but eventually became a fortress for the Spanish but eventually seized by the Texian Volunteer Soldiers in 1835. In 1836 it would be the sight where the famous siege would happen between those that defended the fort for 13 days but would only fall to Santa Anna and his Mexican Army. Today you can visit the fort and the museum that is absolutely fascinating.

There is also the Riverwalk which offers nice strolls along the river with plenty of restaurants, museums, and shops. There is one great museum called The Briscoe Western Art Museum that takes you back to the early days of western history and art. For dining experiences there are no shortage of these. For a traditional TexMex experience head to Mi Tierra where their food and margaritas amazing. If you want a true Texas BBQ stop check out Pinkerton's with a brisket that has some incredible flavor. A upscale TexMex dining option is Boudro's that has an extensive wine lists and exceptional food including their Grilled Prime Rib. All three places have really amazing ambiance along with fantastic service.

Just north of the Riverwalk is the San Fernando Cathedral that is one of the oldest cathedral's in the state. For hotels the AC Hotel was a great stay with comfortable rooms, a great roof top, and superb service. November is a great month to visit San Antonio as temperatures were in the mid 60's.
