There are two more stops along the Freedom Trail that cover an area in Charlestown which is located just north of Boston. This is an area that was, significant during the American Revolution War. It is a place that offers a great history to the colonists of Massachusetts and the city of Boston plys part of my post-it note journey.

On June 16th, 1775 the colonial army would establish a high ground just North of Boston known as Breed's Hill. The 1200 members of the colonial army build an earthen embakement fort that night in preparation for the British advance on them. On the early morning of June 17th, 1775 the colonial army came under heavy Cannons fire from the British Army and Navy. The British began their march up the hill but came under heavy fire from the colonial army which would cause the British to repeal several times. The British finally over ran the colonists but this was mainly due to the colonial army running out of ammunition. Although the British might have won the battle known as,The Battle of Bunker Hill it was a huge moral victory as the British Army nearly list over half their army that day.

Today there is a great stop for the Battle of Bunker Hilk that includes a large monument at the center of it. There are four gates that represent those that served in this battle including the United States Gate, The New Hampshire Gate, The Massachusetts Gate, and the Connecticut Gate. There are plenty of informative signs that tell you about the history of this battle and those who served including a statue of Colonel Prescott who was one of the leaders of the colonial army.

Prior to Bunker Hill as you are walking to it there is a great square known as Winthrop Square which pays tribute to those who served and died during the Battle of Bunker Hill. This is about a twenty minute walk from the USS Constitution stop along the Freedom Trail. If you are a fan of history then this is one stop to add. #ridingwithkurt #postit #bunkerhill #freedomtrail
