Unrest began to occur throughout the colonies in the early 1770's. England would begin high taxation to the colonists and unrest would begin. In Boston the individuals that lived there began devising plans to challenge the increase in taxation. On December 16, 1773 5000 colonists would gather at the Old South Meeting House to discuss and make plans about the issues of the taxes especially surrounding the tea trade.
On May 10, 1773 England would implimement the Tea Act which increased taxes on the colonists along with the Townsend Act. Colonists saw this as a threat to their freedom and devised a plan to challenge the British rule. The evening of December 16, 1773 the son's of libery who disguised themselves as Native Americans boarded the ships known as the Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver. They would dispose of the tea on the ships which became known as the Boston Tea Party. It was the individuals of Boston way of making a stand of the increase taxation of the colonies from England. A total of 342 chest from the East India Company would be destroyed and a slap in the face to the English trade between India and the Colonies.
