Two and a half years ago I made a post it note road trip that I will never forget which covered nearly 1800 miles. Over the past few days I have had many discussions about that trip and one place particularly that is located in northeastern Arizona.
Monument Valley is a incredible experience in Northwestern Arizona. This is an incredible area of the state where several movies have been filmed here including National Lampoon's Vacation and Forrest Gump. It sits near the border of Utah and Arizona and part of the Navajo Indian Reservation. It offers incredible views of the desert and buttes throughout the park. The drive is amazing and there are several stops throughout the area to get out and take in the immense beauty of the area. The cost to enter the park is only eight dollars per car. For dining there are not that many restaurants in the area but there is a Burger King that is one to check out that offers a interesting museum. At the Burger King there is the Wind Talker Museum which offers memorabilia and collections from the Native Americans who served our country during World War Two. The stop is well worth it and and will leave you with an appreciation for those who served from the area while providing American Freedom in the Pacific Theater.
Monument Valley is about two and a half hours from Moab, UT and two hours from Page, AZ. I stayed in Page at the Quality Inn of Lake Powell that offered comfortable rooms and a break breakfast buffet along with great views of Lake Powell. Add a stop to Monument Valley on your next road trip adventure in Northwestern Arizona. #ridingwithkurt
