Loveland Pass Colorado!!!
When it comes to the state of Colorado there are so many various areas to explore. The natural beauty found throughout the state is immense as well as the quaint mountain towns. Colorado has also been part of my journey over the last four years including two post it note trips. There is one place that stand out to me as a must when visiting this great state and offer exceptional beauty plus were recommended to me by post it note.
Three years ago I made a post it note journey to Colorado on a bigger trip. One of the places that I made a stop at was located less than an hour west of Denver. Ironically, a year prior I even made a stop at when I was visiting Colorado after a twenty year absence. It is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and offers awesome views. It is known as the Loveland Pass and sits at over 11,000 feet in altitude. The drive up to it off of Interstate 70 is quite spectacular with the various switchbacks. Once you are on top there are various hiking areas along the Continental Divide. This area is also part of the White River National Forrest so the area is protected and there are great photo opportunities throughout this portion of the park. The drive west from the Loveland Pass is quite remarkable as you pass the ski mountains of A Basin and Keystone. If you are looking for a great steakhouse in Keystone there is the Snake River Saloon and Steakhouse which offers great appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, and cuts of steak. I had their Prime Rib which was cooked to perfection at medium and served with horseradish and au jus. In the summer months there is little wait but during the ski season reservations are highly recommended.
I have found that this area of Colorado is best to explore in late May and early June. I generally stay in Denver Tech at the Hyatt House which is much more affordable than downtown Denver. If you are looking for great views on top of the Rocky Mountains then head to the Loveland Pass when visiting Colorado. #ridingwithkurt #postit #colorado
