Las Vegas, NV is the city that never sleeps and part of a post it note journey that I experienced over three years ago. It has The Strip, Freemont Strip, and many areas to explore. There is one thing though that I enjoyed that isn't in those areas at all but lies in the dessert.

The Hoover Dam is a fascinating piece that sits at over 726 feet in height. It was originally constructed from 1931 to 1936 in the Black Canyon of The Colorado River. This architectural feat is absolutely incredible and was dedicated by President Eisenhower in 1935. It has a visitor center that offers a very informative area where you can pay to enter the dam museum as well as take the tour. The museum is absolutely amazing with the amount of information about the history of the dam. After the museum you can walk out to the dam and enjoy the views. The middle of the dam is the border of Nevada and Arizona where you can stand in the middle and have your picture taken on the border of the two states. Above the dam is Lake Mead was formed along the Colorado River. Today that area offers plenty of boating and kayaking. Back at the Dam there is a restaurant that offers all sorts of tasty items while enjoying your day here as well as gift shop.

The Hoover Dam is only thirty minutes east of Las Vegas. For hotels I stayed at the Hyatt Place Las Vegas which is only ten minutes from The Strip. If your a fan of interesting architectural features in the United States then a stop at the Hoover Dam is worth it. #ridingwithkurt #postit #hooverdam
