Colorado is a state that I have always enjoyed traveling to. I have been traveling to this amazing state since I was a kid but in the last four years I have been there three times including two as a post it note journey. If you are looking at planning a trip to this fantastic state next year then here are three great stops for outdoors in late May.

The first is located in the Boulder area of Colorado and offers great hikes throughout the area. The Flatirons are a rock structure that stretch out of the are and offer immense beauty. The hikes range from very easy to extreme. The parking area is by the the NCAR Center that you can have easy access to your trailhead. It has also great views of the Flatirons and the valley below of Boulder. It is located only thirty minutes Northwest of Denver.

Slightly south of the downtown area is the town of Colorado Springs. There is a place called Garden of the God's that offers not only great trails for hiking but areas for bouldering as well. There is a great visitor center and parking is right next to it. The hikes are very moderate but the views are spectacular.

Three hours south of Denver is a very mysterious formation. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is a very large sand dune located next to the Blueberry and Humboldt Peak. This naturally formed Sand Dune offers great hiking around it that can be challenging with the loose sand. There is a great visitor center that offers information about the dunes along with the formation. There are park rangers on sight to provide information.

For hotels in the Denver area I generally stay in Denver Tech at either the Hyatt Place Denver Tech which offer great rooms along with a complimentary breakfast. I have also stayed at the Hyatt House Denver Tech which offer a very similar experience as the other. Plus the hotels are much more affordable than staying in Downtown Denver. If you are fan of the outdoors or looking for a great Colorado experience then these three stops will not disappoint. #ridingwithkurt #postit #colorado
