Bicentennial Mall Nashville, TN!!!
In 1769 the first area of what is known as Tennessee was settled by a lone individual who would build a cabin along the Watauga River in Northeast, TN. Prior to this the British built a fort in the pioneer region that would be called Fort Loudon in 1756. By 1779 the first settlement was established by a group led by James Robertson who built Fort Nashboro which became Nashville, TN.
If you are a fan of history then there is a great walking tour for Tennessee history over in the Germantown area. The Bi-Centennial Mall is a self guided walk that takes you through the history of Tennessee and is beautifully designed. It starts from the south with dark marble that illustrates the history of the state with key dates going back to 1756. It hits key points of history ranging from the early history, settlements, American Civil War, Reconstruction, Prohibition, World War One, The Great Depression, World War Two, Korean War, Civil Rights, Vietnam War, and other events leading up to 1996 which marked the 200th year celebration of the state. In the center of the mall is a memorial recognizing those who served in WWII from the state of Tennessee. To the north there are 95 Bells that recognize the 95 counties throughout the state which chime every hour. There are several fountains throughout the area that total 31 which symbolize the total amount of rivers in the state.
The Bicentennial Mall is a State Park and is open seven days a week. For dining options nearby that have been recommended to me by post it note check out Von Elrods, Neighbors, and Germantown Pub. If you enjoy history then head to the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park when visiting Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt #postit #bicentennialmall
