Boudro's San Antonio, TX

The one thing I truly enjoyed about my experience beyond history in San Antonio was the food. The other night for Thanksgiving I had an incredible post it note dining experience. The location was right on the River Walk and offered both seating along the river, outside on the patio, and inside.

Boudro's on the Riverwalk is a true Texas dining event. The restaurant has been a staple to the San Antonio River Walk since 1986. The restaurant is a classic Texas fine dining experience that offers an exceptional menu with appetizers, salads, soups, entrees and deserts along with a extensive wine and adult beverage menu. For my first course I had their Grilled Quail which is grilled and served on a bed of pepper jack grits (I substituted their mashed potatoes which was the recommendation of the server) and topped with fried parsley and jalapeno chips along with a amazing chipotle demi glaze. The entire balance of flavors was amazing, and the quail was cooked to perfection. I found the Paso Robles Cabernet as a nice pairing to the dish with the grilled quail, mashed potatoes and demi-glaze. For the main course I had their Grilled Prime Rib which is served over garlic mashed Potatoes, sauteed vegetables and topped with a chimichurri sauce. The Prime Rib as cooked to a perfect medium with an excellent crust and seasoning on the outside. The flavors were intense, and the entire cut was very tender. Additionally, the warmed horse radish sauce on the side were a nice touch. The bread with the rosemary butter were a nice touch as well. The entire dish had so much flavor and was well balanced. A glass of the VDR a Proprietary Blend of petite verot and sirah added a nice balance with the heavy flavors of the Prime Rib.

The service by my waiter Juan was exceptional and his knowledge of the menu and wine pairings were amazing. The ambiance was incredible but with a relaxed feel.
