Yesterday, I had a discussion with an individual about an incredible drive from Colorado to Utah. The drive stretches along Interstate 70 and the serenity of the beauty . If you are looking for an awesome road trip, then this is one to add.
From Denver, you will begin heading west, and your first stop is Idaho Springs. It is a quaint mountain town that offers a history of mining with some great dining options. Beau Jo's Pizza is a must in this town with their Colorado style pizza. Additionally, it is a post-it note recommendation that is well worth adding. There is also great shopping in this town to pick up some great souvenirs.
The next stop is the Loveland Pass, which is part of the Continental Divided. The drive up to the top is awesome with the switchbacks along Highway 6 just off of Interstate 70. The views from the top of Loveland Pass are spectacular at an altitude of over 11,990 feet. On the backside of the drive are stops at A Basin and Keystone, which offer exceptional skiing. For dining options in Keystone, head to the Snake River Saloon and Steak House. The Prime Ribe is awesome.
The next stop is about an hour a way and offers a great visitor center and area to stretch your legs. From there, head to Parachute, CO, which is another hour away. For dining in Parachute, check out the Funky Bear for all things Colorado dining. The Ribeye and Tomato Bisque are definitely worth the stop. For hotels, check out The Grand Vista Hotel, which is conveniently located off of Interstate 70.
From there, you are only two hours away to Green River, Utah, which is only 45 minutes from Arches. While you stop here, check out The Tamarisk Restaurant, which offers great southwestern cuisine. For hotels, look at the Super 8 By Wyndham, which I found very comfortable and ease to jump back on the road to Arches the next day.
This is a road trip that can be done in a day or broken up in parts. Exceptional views and incredible dining along the way. You won't go wrong with this stretch of Interstate 70 between Colorado and Utah! #ridingwithkurt
