Nashville once wasn't always the popular destination it is today. Here is a comparison of pictures of downtown Nashville about 40 years apart. Individuals are generally amazed how much Nashville has grown in the last 10 years.

In the 1980's some of the popular things to do were The Opryland Hotel, Opryland Theme Park, Grand Ole Opry, The various State Parks, Nashville Sounds, Vanderbilt Football, Cumberland Science Muesem and various small pockets around Nashville especially around the Belle Meade and Green Hills area. The mall at Green Hills was basically a strip mall with a Castner Knott. Your popular restaurants were Belle Meade Buffet, Shoneys, Mr. Ghattis Pizza, Captain D's, Mrs. Winners Fried Chicken, Sylvan Park Diner, and a few other fast food restaurants. Plus the iconic Blockbuster in Green Hills.

Today Nashville is a top tourist destination with a population in the city of over 750,000 and with surrounding areas it exceeds 2 Million. There is no shortage of things to do from live Music down on Broadway, Sports, outdoor activities, Concerts, and even kids activities.

Nashville has been home to me since 1977 and even though I have lived and visited other amazing places Nashville is definitely a place to visit. The upcoming months bring plenty of events, concerts, great food and sports. You'll never be bored when you visit Nashville and as I tell my riders if you're bored then your in the wrong part of town.
