Yesterday, I was providing a ride to an individual who was from North Carolina. We were discussing traveling out west and the diversity each Western state has to offer. One place that came up is Yellowstone National Park.
Yellowstone National Park was part of my second post-it note trip out west two years ago. The park is historically significant and offers an experience of seeing what the Western United States looked like prior to the western expansion. The wildlife you can see are Elk, Buffalo, Deer, Bears, Waterfowl, moose, and other creatures that have a habitat for the area. The drive throughout the park is spectacular, and it will not leave you disappointed. Old Faithful is a must stop with the geyser that offers a spectacular display of natural beauty that erupts on an hourly basis. When I visited the park, I did it in June, and the weather was spectacular along with the amount of wildlife I saw. I have also visited Yellowstone in the winter and did a snowmobile experience that was amazing.
Dining near the park is limited. One place to check out for amazing local experience is the Slippery Otter located in the west gate. The food is spectacular, and the menu offers so many different varieties of Western cuisine, with an ambiance and service that won't leave you disappointed. I stayed in Idaho Falls at the Comfort Suites, which is only an hour and a half from the park. There are also hotels near the park at the West Gate and Jackson Hole.
Getting to Yellowstone by flight is not a challenge at all. You can fly into Salt Lake City, Bozeman, or even Jackson Hole. I generally recommend flying into Salt Lake City, UT renting a car and making stops at Idaho Falls, Yellowstone, and then flying out of Bozeman, MT. That way, you can get four states in one trip. A travel and stop to Yellowstone is fantastic and one that you'll want to add for your next travel adventure in the United States. #ridingwithkurt
