Union Station Hotel Nashville, TN!!!

The history throughout Nashville, TN is very extensive. The train first arrived in Nashville, TN in 1854. It connected the cities of Chattanooga and Nashville. In 1859 they added a rail line to Louisville, KY. A place that was added was on the corner of 10th and Broadway which would become central to train travel from Nashville, TN.

The Union Station was Nashville's train station beginning in 1900. The building was built by the Louisville and Nashville Terminal Company. This would be part of the early days of train travel to Nashville from all over the United States. Individuals like Franklin D. Roosevelt and Al Capone, along with soldiers on their way to the World Wars. In 1979 the last passenger train would leave Union Station that was part of the Amtrak Floridian long distance line. The building would become abandoned any the city would consider to tear it down. Through the help of investors the building would be transformed to a hotel but it wouldn't reopen immediately. The building would need severe repair do the interior would become quite run down. On October 9, 1990 the hotel would open and serve the city of Nashville as one of the more luxurious hotels. Today the hotel is a Marriot Autograph Collection Hotel and offers exquisite lobby with original stain glass, beautiful vaulted ceilings, whiskey bar (The Bar Car), and a great dining experiences with their restaurants The Stationary.

This is one historic sight in Nashville, TN well worth checking out.
