Three Experiences In Nevada!!!

Three years ago I put my idea of traveling by post it note to the test.  It was a trip that would mark off my forty-seventh state and eventually onto my forty-eight state.  It would be a trip that I would note forget.

The trip was to Nevada and one that offered a mix of the Las Vegas Strip, the history, and the various parks.  There were three places that did stand out that were recommended to me by post it note.  They all sit outside of the city of Las Vegas and well worth checking out.

The first place is the Hoover Dam which separates Nevada and Arizona.  It was completed in 1936 and it is a wonder of it time.  The Colorado River flows through it and Lake Mead sits just above the dam.  The cost to visit the dam is only $25.00 and offers a visitor center along with a museum. There is a tour for the dam at an extra costs.  You can walk out to the dam and get your picture while standing on the border of Arizona and Nevada.

The next stop just sits north of Las Vegas and offers a great beauty throughout the park.  Valley of Fire is a Nevada's oldest state par and is only $15.00 to enter.  There is a great drive through the park with several stops to get out and take in the beauty of the dessert.  One of the stops that I truly enjoyed was the rock formation called the Seven Sisters.  They are seven rock formation that are along the main road and are towering in the area.

The third is the just west of the city there is a great natural conversation area.  Red Rock Canyon offers amazing views of the dessert and the red rock.  The cost to enter the canyon is $20.00 and reservations are needed in advance.  There are plenty of great hiking trails throughout the park including Middle Oak Trailhead an South Oak Creek Trailhead.  The Red Rock Canyon overlook is awesome as well.

For hotels I stayed at the Hyatt Place Las Vegas which offered a great location and in the heart of Vegas.  If there is one place to find as a hidden gem for dining it is Viva Las Arepas.  Extremely good South American food with friendly service and their Arepas are excellent.  Add a stop to Nevada this upcoming year for the outdoor and history it has to offer.  #ridingwithkurt #postit
