The city of Nashville has so many different eras of the town's transformation of where it is today. Yesterday, I was taking a couple to the airport and asked them what some of the more enjoyable things they enjoyed throughout the music city. One place they mentioned to me was the Tennessee State Museum in Germantown. So, I decided to make a stop at the museum yesterday to check it out since my last visit there almost three years ago.
The Tennessee State Museum is fascinating with all the exhibits and offers various areas for the history of the museum. The Tennessee Time Tunnel offers a tour through the various eras of Tennessee. The museum begins with the early history as a territory to the North Carolina and the Native American history. It offers excellent pieces of the early native American history and the artifacts. The museum continues with the founding's of the area by Donelson and his men and the establishment of Fort Nashboro. The exhibits continue through the history of Tennessee with early founding's to other various eras of the modern history of the state. There are a couple of temporary exhibits, and one that I enjoyed was the Phtography in Tennessee. The exhibit runs from June 10 - November 9,2025, and offers original photos of Tennessee and Nashville dating back to when photography was first discovered. The photos were incredible as they all are the original photos, even dating back to the 1800's. Other temporary exhibits include Welcome Lafayette, Eight Days in Dayton: 100 years of the Scope Trial, and Samplers and Young Woman: Threading Art Together Art and Education
The Tennessee State Museum is free to attend, and you can allow yourself a couple of hours to visit the museum. They are open Tuesday through Sunday. There is a gift shop available as well as interactive exhibits. For dining nearby that has been recommended to me by post-it notes includes Neighbors, Germantown Cafe, Little Hat's Italian Market, Jack Brown's, and many more. Add a stop at the Tennessee State Museum on your next visit to Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt
