The Grand Canyon

There has been much discussion lately, especially yesterday with individuals that I gave a ride to about travels out west. The western United States, especially with states like Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Idaho, and Wyoming, offers so much exploration. National Parks, geographical features, western history, food, and culture are all part of these western states that surround the Rocky Mountains, various deserts, and a scenic beauty that can only be explained when you are there.

I began traveling to the west as a kid and even spent five years of my life in Montana. I first discovered the Southwestern area of the United States about eight years ago. It began a journey about this area of the country that I became fascinated about. One state in particular has always stood out. Arizona offers so many excellent features to see and do. I was chatting with someone about this amazing state, particularly about the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon was part of my second post-it note trip with a visit to the Northern Rim. I have done both the Southern and Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon. Both sides are completely different and offer different geographic features. The Southern Rim is more sagebrush and desert, while the northern rim is 1500 feet higher and is more pine tree. Both sides offer wondrous beautiful views of the Grand Canyon.

There are visitor centers for both sides, and the Northern Rim is less crowded. For hotels, it is limited for both sides, but for the Northern Rim, I stayed in Page, Arizona the night before and drove to St. George, Utah, after visiting the National Park. In Page, I stayed at the Quality Inn View of Lake Powell and in St. George, I stayed at Ramada by Wyndham St. George. Both hotels were very comfortable and conveniently located in areas that offer close proximity to the National Parks nearby, including Grand Canyon and Zion. Along with stops in Monument Valley, Vermillion Cliffs, Navajo Bridge, and other amazing beauty the area has to offer. A stop at The Grand Canyon will not leave you disappointed when visiting Arizona. #ridingwithkurt
