There is no shortage of great food in Nashville, TN. Nashville's food history began with traditional southern dishes including fried chicken, fried catfish, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, collard greens, corn casserole, biscuits, cornbread, and other tasty dishes. If you are looking for a taste of the the south then here are three great stops that have been recommended to me by post it note.
Monell's located in Germantown is a quaint stop with a whole lot of food. It is a dining experience where you sit family style and they start bringing you the food. The food is amazing and begins with a variety of salads and rolls. After the salad course the main course is served with fried chicken, meatloaf, fried catfish, pulled pork, and roast beef. Additionally, the sides are amazing and are rotated daily similar to the meat items with dessert served at the end.
Near the Nations west of downtown there is a old meat and three. Wendell Smith's has been serving great food for over 60 years. The menu rotates daily and for the price it is absolutely delicious. A couple of items that I have always enjoyed is their roast beef and gravy and their fried chicken, plus the cornbread, sides, and service are always good.
Finally, if you are willing to make a drive to a stop north of Franklin there is a great southern dining stop that will not let you down. Barabara's Home Cooking offers a great southern foods they have been serving since opening in 1997. The menu ranges from fried chicken, fried pork chops, roast beef, country fried steak, poppyseed chicken casserole, crabcakes, and catfish. The poppyseed chicken casserole did not disappoint along with the rolls, green beans, and cucumber salad. The service is excellent along with a great ambiance.
Monell's about eight minutes from downtown, Wendell Smith's about thirteen minutes from downtown, and Barabara's about twenty minutes from downtown. Each one will not leave you disappointed with the food or the service. Add a stop to one of these great dining options when looking for great southern dining in Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt
