There are several places that offer a break from all the hustle and bustle of Nashville. One such area is located about twenty minutes south of downtown. It's a park that I've been going to since I was a kid. It is also a beautiful pond and plenty of great hiking. It's located in the Forest Hills area of Nashville, and if you're a fan of the outdoors, then th8s is one to head to.
Radnor Lake is a peaceful place tucked in the area known as Forest Hills. There is a great visitor center that offers a great history of the park as well as neat features the area has to offer, including the wildlife. You can park at the Visitor Center and begin your adventure with the various hiking trails around the lake or throughout the hills surrounding the area. There are different levels of hikes, with the easiest one going around the lake itself. You can see various wildlife, including deer, turtles, turkey, squirrels, and waterfowl.
Nearby is Green Hills, which offers plenty of great dining and shopping. Additionally, there is the Bluebird Cafe that if you can get a ticket, it's well worth it. For dining that has been recommended to me by post-it notes include The Greenhouse, The Crow's Nest, Etc., Green Hills Grille, Kalamata's, Char, True Foods, and plenty of other great restaurants. The Green Hills Mall and the Hill Center offer great shopping as well as Restoration Hardware. If you're looking for a great pedicure or manicure, head to the Venetian.
The experience at Radnor Lake not only leaves you with an appreciation of the nature of Middle Tennessee but also a realization of how close you are to other great places to check out throughout the city. There is no cost for Radnor Lake, and it is open seven days a week. Ad a stop at Radnor Lake when looking for outdoor activities in Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt
