The other day I was chatting with a individual where we were discussing traveling out west. I have traveled all over the western United States and looking forward to more post it note adventures out there. One of the states that me and individual discussed that is a hidden gem for outdoor activities is Idaho.
I began traveling to Idaho many years ago for skiing at a place called Schweitzer and Grand Targhee which both offered incredible skiing. Over three years ago I ventured back to Idaho to attend a friend's wedding and spend two days fly fishing on the South Fork of the Snake River. The fly fishing was incredible and every trout caught and missed was a memory in the making. Jimmy's Fly Shop defintely helped providing me all the flies that I needed to have a successful trip. This area is in Idaho Springs and there is also great hiking as well. Two years ago, I stayed for a night in Idaho Springs on my way to Yellowstone National Park. It is only an hour and a half away from the park and the West Gate Entrance which was part of a post it note trip like no other. One dining option that was recommended to me was the Slippery Otter just outside of the Yellowstone Park entrance. The food, service, and ambiance were fantastic. The Elk Burger was amazing and was able to custom build it with sauteed mushrooms, crumbled blue cheese, pickles, and onions. The fries were quite tasty as well along with a local Montana beer called Moose Drool. Plus, a stop in Yellowstone will offer an incredible experience.
For hotel experience in Idaho Springs look at Comfort Suites Idaho Falls. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious plus the morning breakfast was very good. Idaho Falls is only three hours north of Salt Lake City so it is an easy flight and drive. For a great hidden gem in Idaho look at adding Idaho Falls for your next trip out west. #ridingwithkurt
