History And Adventure In Nashville, TN

Nashville is a very diverse city, especially when it comes to things to do. There is history, music, outdoor activities, sports, and great dining. One area that offers a couple great stops for history and all ages activities is the Wedgewood Houston area near SOBRO.


In 1862, during the American Civil War,the Union Army occupied the city of Nashville. This allowed the Union Army to take control of the Cumberland River. During this occupation,the Union Army built a fort that still stands southeast of the city of Nashville. Fort Negley was built in 1862 and would be used as a cornerstone for the barricade that would be built around the city so the Union could hold control of the Cumberland River. In 1864, the Confederate Army emerged on the city of Nashville,and the Battle of Nashville would play out. For two days from December 15th to the 16th ,he Confederate Army made many attempts to take the Nashville with a battlefield that stretched over 20 miles in width. In the end, the Union Army would win with the Confederate Army retreating to the South East. Today,you can visit this historic battle site with a visit to Fort Negley. The historical stop offers a visitor center, aelf guided tour, a path to the top of the Fort, and is free to the public.


Just around the corner from Fort Negley is The Adventure Science Center. This is a axcellent place to bring kids to of all ages. There are several exhibits and activities throughout the museum. The cost for the Adventure Science Center is $22 for adults and $18 for kids.

This place is an icon to this area with creative burgers that will leave you mind blown for the flavor each patty has to offer. They are open Monday through Saturday 10:30 am until 2:30 pm.
