It is New Year's Eve and what a year it has been. I had two great post it note trips this year to Texas and Colorado. Here are six post it note recommendations that I enjoyed in 2025.
Red Rock Amphitheatre was an amazing experience even if it was my third time seeing Lord Huron there. The views of the valley below from the historic amphitheater are truly fascinating. Highly recommend getting there early to park in the upper parking lot.
The Great Sand Dunes is absolutely fascinating. It is located about three hours south of Denver. They offer a terrific visitor center once you enter the National Park. There is parking at the dunes as well as bathrooms.
Mesa Verde National Park was one that I truly enjoyed. The various cliff dwellings have been preserved for over 700 years. The visitor center is excellent and the park rangers are very informative. Allow yourself at least 6 to 10 hours for visiting the Park.
The Riverwalk in San Antonio was absolutely amazing with the restaurants, night life, and museums. A restaurant that I enjoyed along the Riverwalk was Boudro's. The food and service were fantastic. The Briscoe Western Art Museum was very interesting.
The Alamo was one that I really enjoyed. Although it is not that big the history of the church and fort plus the museum were well worth the time. Allow yourself at least two hours and make sure you pay the $14 for the museum you will definitely get your money worth. Just around the corner from the Alamo is the historic Menger Bar which is well worth stopping by to have a cocktail.
Finally, two cities that I enjoyed in Colorado were Golden and Durango. Both offer great food and activities around each place. For hiking in Golden head north to the Flat Irons near Boulder. For dining in Durango check out El Moro. The food is awesome along with the service.
I am looking for more adventures heading into the New Year. Looking forward with my continued quest to see all seven continents by post it note. Hope you can enjoy these great places on your next travels to Texas or Colorado. #ridingwithkurt
