Yesterday, I provided a ride to an individual where the state of Colorado came up as a future travel destination for them. I provided my recommendations and told them that it is an incredible place to visit. If you are a fan of hiking, then there are some awesome stops to add that have been recommended to me by post-it note.
Garden of the God's is located south of Denver and offers a wide variety of hiking areas. The park is located in Colorado Springs, and there is a visitor center there. Additionally, it is only 45 minutes from Denver.
Just west of Denver is the Loveland Pass, which offers a switch back drive to the top. Once you arrive, there is an area to park and take in the views from 11,990 feet. There are various trails available.
North of Denver is the town of Boulder. Near the city, there is a great hiking area known as the Flat Irons. The hikes range from simple trails to extreme.
Three hours south of Denver is the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is an exceptional park that offers serene views of the park and the dunes. The dunes are over 750 feet in height and cover over 30 acres. There is a visitor center, and the area offers a challenge of hiking the dunes due to the sand.
These four stops offer exceptional hiking and views of the various geographic regions of Colorado. For dining west of Denver, add an awesome pizza stop at Beau Jo's Pizza or Smokin Yards for BBQ. For Hotels in Denver, I generally stay at Hyatt Place or Hyatt House in Denver Tech. A stop in Colorado will leave a lasting impression with an appreciation of the Rocky Mountains. #ridingwithkurt
