There are plenty of great things to see and do when it comes to Nashville, TN. If you are looking for great locations that offer plenty of history to the city then here are four stops. Plus, these locations are free to go to.

The first stop is located in the Wedgewood area of Nashville and offers civil war history. Fort Negley was built in 1862 after the Union Army seized the city. Realizing the importance of the city they made sure to defend the city with Cumberland River. The fort would be used during the Battle of Nashville in 1864. Today it offers a visitor center and self guided walking path tour to the top of the fort.

The next stop is located on First Avenue North and represents the beginnings of Nashville. It is called Fort Nashboro and it was first established near the banks of the Cumberland River back in 1779. The 200 individuals that settled the fort established a future community and the beginnings for the city of Nashville.

The third stop is located in the Germantown area and there is a great museum there. The Tennessee State Museum offers exhibits for the state from prior to colonization to the modern era. It is open six days with Monday being the only day it is closed.

Your final stop is also located near the Germantown area and was a former car factory. The Marathon Motor Works Village used to be the factory for the Marathon Car but today the building now has memories from the past, restaurants, and shops as well as a museum for the last remaining eleven cars.

Most of these stops are part of Hop On Hop Off Trolly Tour stops. There are plenty of great dining near each location that have been recommended to me by post it note which include Gabby's, Neighbor's, Von Elrod, and Black Top. Add these four stops when looking for free stops in Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt
