Between Nashville and the North Carolina border is the Cumberland Plateau. The Cumberland Plateau rises above 1700 feet and runs north to south Georgia to Kentucky. If you are looking to check out amazing fall foliage in Tennessee then this an area to explore along with the amazing waterfalls.
If you are looking to get out this weekend for some Tennessee natural beauty and fall foliage then one great park is Fall Creek Falls State Park. The park is home to the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi that is 256 feet in height. There is parking near the top of the falls with areas to view the falls. You can hike down to the base of the falls and take in an the beautiful views. The length of hike to the base of the falls is around .35 miles. There are several of other amazing hiking trails through out the state park. There is a restaurant, lodge, cabins, and golf throughout the state park. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm.
The drive to Fall Creek Falls is about two and a half hours east of Nashville. For a dining option that has been recommended to me by post it note head to Buc-ee's in Crossville, TN. They have a huge selection of food varieties for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. One item that I have always enjoyed is their chopped brisket sandwich. It has amazing flavor and the brisket is chopped fresh every hour. Making a road trip to Fall Creek Falls along with a stop at Buc-ee's will give you appreciation of the beauty of the Cumberland Plateau. #ridingwithkurt
