Summer is about a month a way and you may be considering various places to travel to. Over the past couple of days there is one state that has been coming up in discussion. It is a state that over the past four years I have visited three times including two of them with as a post it note trip. If you are into outdoors and hiking then this is one state to check out.

Colorado offers so much majestic beauty with the Rocky Mountains and various regions of the state. Here are five stops to check out when visiting this amazing western state:

The first place is located north of Denver in Boulder and offers exceptional hiking and views. The Flat Irons offers endlesshiking from basic to more challenging hikes. You can park at the NCAR parking area and from there let the adventure begin.

The next stop is located just west of Denver and it is some of the highest areas along the Colorado Rockies. The Loveland Pass is part of the Continental Divide and the drive to the top will offer a lasting impression with the switch backs. Once to the top there is parking at the pass to enjoy the beauty from 11,990 feet. There is hiking available along the various trails.

The third place is just outside of Colorado Springs. Garden of the Gods is an amazing area that offers not only hiking but climbing also. There is a great visitor center as well along with parking.

Three hours south of Denver there is the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is a natural wonder with the massive sand dunes. The visitor center is very informative and parking is right down the road to walk out to the dunes.

Finally, there is Mesa Verde in Southwestern Colorado. There is a visitor center right when you enter that provides valuable information for the National Park. The park is huge with many stops for seeing the various Native American dwellings and pits.

June is a great time of year to visit any of these places. A couple dining options in Colorado that I have enjoyed check out Beau Jo's Pizza (Idaho Springs), El Moro (Durango), and Snake River Saloon and Steakhouse (Keystone). Add a stop this summer to Colorado for some great road trip adventures. #ridingwithkurt #postit
