One thing you will notice about when visiting Washington D.C. is there plenty of various areas to explore. One such place is about a ten to fifteen minute Metro ride to it. It sits right on the Potomac, just south of the city, and it was recommended to me by post-it note.
The Wharf is a large area that consists of fish markets, great restaurants, shopping, a large wharf, and a music venue called the Anthem. Individuals who recommended the Wharf to me said there are no bad dining options here. Imade a stop at a place that offers some fantastic southern dining experience. The name of the restaurant is Kinfolk which will make you think you are dining below the Mason Dixon line. Their menu stretches from appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, entree items, and desserts. I started with their Corn Bread that was served with a whipped butter. The cornbread was very good along with the whipped butter. The cornbread had a little sweetness, good moisure to it, and with the butter it had a good balance of flavor. For my main course I had their Shrimp and Grits. The history of Shrimp and Grits dates back to before the Civil War when Western African and Low Country Fisherman created this dish as a poor man's meal. Over time places like Kinfolk have added plenty of flair to this dish. The Shrimp was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned. The Shrimp sat on top of tasty cheese grits and topped with a flavorful Cajun Brown sauce. The entire place was absolutely amazing and had a nice balance of flavor between the Shrimp, Cheese Grits, and Sauce. The Local brew Space Dust IPA paired well with the Shrimp and Grits.
They offer indoor and outdoor seating for both lunch and dinner. They operate from 11:00 am till 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and Friday until Sunday from 11:00 am till 2:00 am. If you're ever looking for a great Southern dining stop in Washington D.C. then head to Kinfolk Restaurant. #ridingwithkurt #post #Kinfolk
