The state of Tennessee offers so many areas to explore. If you're looking for a quaint town in south eastern Tennessee, then head to Chattanooga. The town is located about an hour and a forty-five minutes southeast of downtown Nashville.
The city offers great dining, history, tourist attractions, and hiking. A few places to check out when visiting Chattanooga include The Tennessee Aquarium, Lookout Mountain, Chiickamauga Battlefield, The original Chattanooga Choo Choo (now known as The Chalet), and other great attractions.
The aquarium offers a mix of Tennessee Sealife along with some species from all over the world, including Penguins. It has two parts to it plus a gift shop. The area around the aquarium offers plenty of dining and a children's science museum.
The history of Chattanooga can be found with the Civil War History with two battlefield experiences to explore. Lookout Mountain offers a scenic view of the valley below along with a self guided tour of the battle site. There are shops at the top of the mountain. Just southeast of the city, you'll find Chiickamauga Battlefield. The battlefield offers a visitor center that offers a history of the battle along with an incredible gun collection. There is a driving tour for the battle site, which offers various stops to see the beginning and outcome of the battle. Both battlefields are about twenty minutes outside the city of Chattanooga.
The city of Chattanooga was part of railroad history as well. Today, you can see a part of this history with a visit to The Chalet, formerly known as The Chattanooga Choo Choo. The area offers a hotel with ways to see the original steam locomotives along with shops and restaurants.
For dining options that I have enjoyed by post-it note in Chattanooga you'll want to check out Hi Fi Clydes, The Hot Chocolatier, Top of the Rock just west of the city, and plenty of other stops. There are plenty of hotels throughout the city. Add a stop to Chattanooga on your next visit to Tennessee. #ridingwithkurt
