Annapolis, Maryland!!!

In 1632 Maryland would be established as an American colony with the help of Lord Baltimore who would provide the area as a haven for persecuted Catholics. In 1649 the city of Annapolis would be founded near the Chesapeake Bay. This great city and state would be part of my most recent post-it note trip to the Mid-Atlantic and New England States.

Annapolis is an amazing city that offers an extraordinary history going back to the 17tb Century. There are so many excellent restaurants, shops, Inns, and history to check out. In 1781 Marquis Lafayette would have his soldiers be encampment here from March to April before the Battle of Yorktown which would lead to the eventual surrender of the British Army to The Colonial Army. The State House in Annapolis would be completed in 1779 naming Annapolis as the state capitol. From November 26, 1783 to August 13, 1784 the Maryland State House would be the temporary Capitol of the United States. On February 2, 1865 President Abraham Lincoln would visit the city of Annapolis on his way to Hampton Roads, VA where he met with some local officials about the upcoming dealings with the Confederacy of the South. This would be the only time Lincoln would visit the city of Annapolis.

As you walk through the city if Annapolis you are mesmerized by the history here. On such places are the various historical inns that are located throughout the city. They are known as The Historical Inns of Annapolis which date back to the 1700's. They are worth just going into to see the incredible decor and architecture of each house and inn. Ther are a couple of great artifacts stores to check out including the Annapolis Pearl Gallery. The Annapolis Pearl Gallery is a gathering of local artists who have their art on display and for sale. For dining options in Annapolis head to Carrol's Creek which has some awesome Crab Cakes. There is also the Naval Academy in Annapolis that offers a rich history for the United States Navy.

Annapolis is an amazing town in the heart of Maryland. To get there from Washington D.C. look at the Flix Bus which is less than an hour. This area of Maryland offers so much great history, food, and unique stops that is worth checking out.
