Ancient Rome At The Art Institute of Chicago!!!

The Roman Empire existed from 753 BC as a small Italian settlement that would exists over the course of nearly 800 years. The highest point of the empire not only stretched throughout Italy but though Africa, Europe, The Middle East, and portions of Asia. They had an advancement of architecture and their remnants can still be found throughout not only Rome but the entire country of Italy. They also were a military power that ruled majority of the Eastern Hemisphere for nearly 800 years until the fall to the Germanic Tribes ruled by Odoacer.

Inside The Art Institute of Chicago you get a taste of the Ancient Roman History. There are several sculptures and pieces of art that date back to the height, beginnings, and rulers of the Roman Empire. One of the first sculptures that you notice as you walk into the entrance of the art museum is the Statue of a Ram from 1st century AD. The South Italian art is extensive through the first portion of the museum and is absolutely amazing. The statues of the various iconic Roman leaders is extensive including Emperor Hadrian from 190 BC to 38 AD who is responsible for Hadrian's Wall in England, Emperor Marcus Aurelius who was an influence to the height of the Roman Army and expansion of the empire, and other statues depicting the era of Roman History. The exhibits are absolutely fascinating and take you back to the days of Romans history and culture.

This was part of a great post it note trip to the city of Chicago. Italy and Rome is a place that I eventually look forward to seeing many these original areas that these portions of art are from on a post it note trip to this amazing country.
