Ancient Greece At The Chicago Art Institute!!!

Greece is a place that I look forward traveling to by post it note. It is a country with fascinating history, culture, and food. The Ancient Greeks were well ahead of their time for architecture and art. On my most recent post it note journey to Chicago there is a taste of this history found there.

Ancient Greece ranged from 12th Century BC until 600 AD which offered a time of the rise of the city of Athens as well as Sparta. The City State which meant that each city ruled their own and controlled the land around it. You would see great architecture feats during the highest point of the power of Greece which included the Parthenon, The Acropolis, The Water Mill, the First Alarm Clock, The Olympic Games, Theatre, and The Crane. The Philosophers like Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato would all offer a contribution to the Greek Society. Warfare was advanced with Ancient Greece where they would become dominant with their soldiers.

The Art Institute of Chicago offers some amazing sculptures, artifacts, and art pieces that are from the Ancient Greek era. Some of these pieces include Statuette of A Female Figure, Oil Jar called Lekythos, Fragment of an Applique Depicting a Hoplite, The Kylix which is a Drinking Cup, a Helmet worn by 4th Century BC Greek Soldiers, Various jars and vases, Monument of Onatorides, and other fascinating pieces. The art pieces range from 2800 BC to early AD. Each historical piece offers a glimpse of Ancient Greece.

This is a fascinating exhibit that will take you back to the early beginnings of the Greek era. This area of The Art Institute is one of the first exhibits you see when walking into the museum.
