Last night, I provided a ride to a couple who was originally from India but currently resides in Luxembourg. They asked me about The Parthenon and is it worth the visit. I said yes, as well as told them it's part of the history of Nashville. I made a stop by the Parthenon last night to go for a walk and take in the beauty of the sight as well as Centennial Park.
The Parthenon is located about ten minutes west of downtown. The building was completed in 1896 as part of the Tennessee World Exposition in 1897. Today you can visit the historic building. The admission is only ten dollars and well worth it. The first floor offers a history of the building and art gallery. The second floor has a forty foot statue of the goddess Athena holding aneight foot tall statue of the god Nike. There are also artifacts from the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
I found walking around the Parthenon and Centennial Park in the evening quite pleasant and peaceful. The area was well lit and offered spectacular views of the Parthenon at night. Plus, the temperature was enjoyable in the evening, walking around Centennial Park. There is a pond in the park that offered a fountain that was lighted.
Nearby, there is great live music along with great food. The Local and The Row were both recommended to me by post-it notes. These are two stops you'll want to add, especially if you're looking for local establishments. A hotel establishment that is located adjacent to Centennial Park is the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University. A stop at The Parthenon, whether it be during the day or evening, is a must when visiting Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt
