A Hidden Gem In Idaho

Over the past couple days there has been one state that has been brought up in discussion. It is a state that I had traveled to about three and a half years ago that would lead to my dream to see the world. It was also part of the second big post it note trip out west.
I first traveled to Idaho over twenty years ago and the skiing at Grand Targhee and Schweitzer. When I returned there almost four years ago I found a hidden gem in Southeastern Idaho that offered incredible fly fishing, hiking, and picturesque views of this area of the state. The town of Idaho Falls, ID is only three hours from Salt Lake CIty, UT which is a Delta Hub so you can get to this area from anywhere in the word. It is also only an hour and a half from Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The nice thing about Idaho Falls is the cost of the hotels is much cheaper and you can be to so many great places in this area of Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana in less than three hours. If you are one to enjoy flyfishing then the South Fork of the Snake River is awesome. You will want to hit up Jimmy's Fly Shop for all the great flies for flyfishing on the South Fork. For hotels I found the Comfort Suites in Idaho Falls very centrally located to the city and the rooms very nice along with great service and a great breakfast.
The best time of year to visit this area of Idaho is from late May until September. If you are going to Yellowstone just outside of the West Gate is the Slippery Otter which has amazing food. The area is amazing and will not leave you disappointed. Add a stop to Idaho Falls on your next road trip adventure out west. #ridingwithkurt
