Over the past couple of days I have provided several of different rides to individuals from the great state of Arizona. I have chatted with them about all the amazing places the area has to offer. Plus I have been to Arizona about eight times with a couple of the trips with a post it note trip. If you are looking for a great road trip then this part of Arizona might be right up your alley.
Interstate 40 runs through the middle of the state of Arizona and offers some spectacular stops from west to east and around this area. As your travel east from the border of Nevada and Arizona one of the first places to stop is Flagstaff. Flagstaff offers great dining and shops in this central Arizona town. One restaurant to make a stop at is MartAnne's Burrito Palace. The chips and salsa are really good and the Carne Asada is excellent. From there you are only an hour away from the Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon to the north and Sedona which is an hour to the South. The next stop is Meteor Crater National Landmark. They offer a visitor center and areas where you can view where the meteor hit. The next stop is Petrified Forest National Park which offers incredible views of the petrified trees and fossils. From there you can go north to Page which is about four hours away to the north or head into New Mexico where Santa Fe is about three hours and forty five minutes away.
There are plenty of great hotels along Interstate 40 especially in Flagstaff. The entire drive from the western border to eastern border of Arizona is about five hours. This trip can be done any time of year but I found that March through June is some of the best time of year to travel there. Note that there can be snow from December to March in Mid to Northern Arizona. Add this road trip on your next adventure to Arizona. #ridingwithkurt
