A Defining Moment

We all have those defining moments. It's a decision that if we do it, then what happens next. This defining moment occurred about three years ago. A couple of months prior, anything that could go wrong went wrong. Instead of giving up on life, I made a decision that there is more out there for me.

One evening three years ago, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a social media friend post they were getting married. I commented congratulations, and within a short time, the individual dm me and asked me to be at their wedding. I will say I was not in a good financial situation, but I was nudged to go. So I had travel points available and booked my flight, rental car, and hotel. I packed my suitcase and grabbed my fly fishing gear. I prayed this was the right decision.

I landed in Salt Lake City, and my first stop was Moochie's for a sandwich experience that I learned from Food Network. I drove north to Idaho Falls and would meet my friend for a night of fun for his bachelor party. It was as if he was supposed to meet this group who are now great friends. They offered the best information for fly fishing in the area. The next two days would be fly fishing on the South Fork of the Snake River. I found peace in my life, and it was a realization that I wanted a life of travel.

I attended the wedding, and the memory was made, gaining not only one friend but an entire family. Upon my return to Nashville, many occurrences would happen. I was sitting in a parking lot one day and something told me to start doing Uber. I started giving rides to fascinating individuals and started collecting post-it notes recommendations from all over the world. A couple would enter my life and told me to create a travel blog and the rest would be history along with a guy named Tyler from Austin, TX.

If it weren't for me taking that trip to Idaho then I'm not sure how my life would have turned out. God has unique ways of creating defining moments and trusting his time is always key. My dream of travel will continue that was destined for me with my quest to see all seven continents by post-it notes from Uber rider inside information from all over the world. #ridingwithkurt
