The other day I was taking a individual from the Nashville International Airport to their hotel from the Gulch. Found out they were visiting Nashville from New Mexico. We chatted about their city and the state of New Mexico.
New Mexico was part of my first post it note trip and since then I have gathered more recommendations for this great area of the country. It also was my 48th state of the lower US states. If you are looking for a great area to travel to in the spring then this would be one to add. The two cities to check out are Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Santa Fe offers great western galleries and shopping. For Hotels I stayed at the Inn at Santa Fe which was very nice with very comfortable beds and nice rooms. The service was excellent and it is just located minutes away from downtown Santa Fe.
Albuquerque was another great stop with a couple places that were recommended to me by post it note. One dining spot that I enjoyed is Garcia's that had amazing Hatch Green Chili and their Beef Enchiladas were excellent. The service was very good along with the ambiance. The other stop to check out is Petroglyph National Monument. This is a awesome sight to check out with the Native American Etchings on the Black Lava Rock. There is a visitor center that is a short drive from the monument. There is also parking by Petroglyph and allow yourself at least two hours to see the etchings. Finally, there is the Rio Grand Nature Center State Park that offers great hiking and views of the Rio Grande.
The Albuquerque Airport is very convenient to the city and is easy to return your rental car and get to your gate in a short period of time. I found late March as a great time to visit New Mexico as it was not to cold or hot. Look at adding a trip to Santa Fe and Albuquerque on your next US western adventure. #ridingwithkurt
