Egyptian history dates back to nearly 2000 BC but the recorded events of the Empire began about 16th Century BC. The first occurrences that mention a historical events can be found in the Old Testament. In Genesis there is the mention of Abraham visiting Egypt from Canaan in 1900 BC. In 1700 BC Joseph is sold into slavery and ends up in Egypt only to become one of the most important roles. Israelites would escape bondage in Egypt and go on to form the Nation by Israel in
