On my most recent trip to San Antonio, TX I was very impressed with the number of activities and areas to explore. The Riverwalk which was recommended to me by post it note was overly impressive with the shops, restaurants, museums, and stops along it. One museum that I enjoyed seeing was right on the Riverwalk and offered a great part of Western history and art.
The Briscoe Western Art Museum offers an incredible piece of the history of the west and Texas. Along with a large amount of art depicting the old west you can get a idea how individuals who settled the west lived and settled. The museum offers three levels of art and items from Western United States History. There are permanent exhibits but there are also exhibits that are rotated through. Through January 19, 2026, the museum will offer Going To Texas: Five Centuries of Maps. This rare exhibit will offer historical maps of Texas dating back to 500 years ago. The Briscoe Western Art Museum is open Thursday through Monday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, with the exception of Thursday where it is open until 8:00 pm. The cost to the museum is only $16.00 along with a visitor center and gift shop.
There are plenty of great dining options nearby including Boudro's and many more. The Museum is located at 210 W Market St, San Antonio, TX 78205. Look at adding a stop at The Briscoe Western Art Museum for your next travels to San Antonio, TX. #ridingwithkurt
