Over the course of about four years I have traveled to Colorado three of them. Two of them were done with recommendations provided to me by post it note. Yesterday I had a couple of great conversations about everything that this state has to offer. Here are some places I have enjoyed traveling to throughout this amazing state.

For hiking there are a few great areas to head to. North of Denver is the town of Boulder. Just west of the city is the Flatirons that over various levels of hikes. Parking can be found at the NCAR research center. South of Denver is the town of Colorado Springs. Just west of the city is the Garden of the Gods. The hikes here are amazing and offer beautiful views of the area.

There are several National Parks throughout the state. Two amazing ones are in the South area of Colorado. The first is The Great Sand Dunes National Park which is a naturally made sand dune that you can walk out to and explore. There is a great visitor center there and offers great information about the history of the dunes. The second is Mesa Verde National Park which offers over 700 years of Native American Cliff Dwellings. The park is enormous and has a very interesting visitor center.

For dining there are a few that I have enjoyed the first is located in Keystone and offers a great steakhouse experience. The Snake River Saloon and Steakhouse is a incredible steakhouse experience in the heart of the Rockies. For pizza there are two great places. The first is Beau Jo's Pizza in Idaho Springs. Also there is Walter 303 just west of downtown Denver. Both are excellent and offer great service. In Durango there is El Moro which is amazing in the heart of Southern Colorado.

For a remarkable concert experience just outside of Denver in Morrison there is Red Rock Amphitheatre. The legendary music venue offers awesome and talented artists along with spectacular views. Make sure you arrive early, grab a great parking spot, and enjoy the experience that Red Rocks Amphitheatre has to offer.

For hotels in Denver I generally stay at the Hyatt Place or Hyatt House in Denver Tech. The hotels are generally very nice and also not as expensive as in Denver. The area is a easy drive to Downtown Denver, Colorado Springs, Morrison, Boulder, Golden, and only forty five minutes to the Denver International Airport. They both offer a great morning breakfast buffet. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are spacious.

If you are looking at a western state that offers so many great experiences then look at adding Colorado on a summer adventure this year. Great outdoors, food, and a incredible state to visit. Add a trip to Colorado on your next journey out west. #ridingwithkurt
