The old saying goes everything is bigger in Texas and this held true when I traveled to this state last November. It was a trip that I truly enjoyed and another post it note journey that provided some great memories. The town is San Antonio and is located in Southeastern Texas.
Two historical places that I enjoyed in the downtown area include the Alamo and the San Fernando Cathedral. The Alamo is known for being the beginnings of the Texas War of Independence as lone soldiers for Texas and Volunteers from Tennessee would try to defend the old fort against the Mexican Army. The battle would end in a loss but this would not be the end for those fighting for Mexican Independence. Today the memory lives on at the Alamo as you can tour the property. I highly recommend adding the Alamo Museum as it is only $14 per person. The museum is fascinating and offers various of pieces from those that passed away at The Alamo. The San Fernando Cathedral is absolutely majestic and one of the oldest cathedrals in Texas. At night time the cathedral is lit up and offers a great beauty to this amazing property.
The Riverwalk is huge with various restaurants, shops, and museums. One of the museums that I enjoyed is the Briscoe Western Art Museum. Here you you will find a large collection of Texas and Western Art pieces. The tickets are $16 and is open Thursday through Monday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.
The food in San Antonio, TX is absolutely delicious and provides a true taste of Texas. For dining options check out Down On Grayson, Mi Tierra, Pinkerton's, and Boudro's. For hotels look at the AC Hotel which has a great location to the Riverwalk. The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, and a great rooftop bar. If you wanting a fantastic Texas experience then add San Antonio to the lists. #ridingwithkurt #postit #sanantonio
